Eclar Plaster is the brand name for a medicated patch containing the active drug deprodone propionate, used for the treatment of keloid scars, among other skin conditions.

The term “plaster” is more commonly used in Japanese and British pharmaceutical terminology if you’re confused by the wording. In American English, it would more naturally be described as an Eclar steroid patch.

The product was developed by the Japanese company Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical, which launched the product in the mid-2000s.

Those familiar with my story know that I successfully treated my keloids using a consistent combination of Kenalog-40 injections, daily moisturizing, and silicone sheets secured with Hypafix tape. You can read more about my treatment strategy in the links below.
While I have not personally used Eclar Plaster, there is an active online community of people who have, and the feedback appears to be quite positive.
The short version of what I’ve learned:
1. Eclar Plaster must generally be purchased from a Japanese distributor and shipped internationally. Unless someone can provide evidence otherwise, I have not found it available for direct purchase in any country outside Japan. The first link below is one example of a Japanese distributor that sells the product internationally. To test the process for my readers, I went ahead and ordered from “Dpkitaoka” on July 15, 2026, and the total cost with free shipping was ¥16,868, or approximately US$104. They only accepted American Express or Wise. No Visa or Mastercard. Bitcoin was also an option, but I imagine nobody will be using that. I’ll update you with more information once the product arrives. I’ve also provided a second option below from Bio-Japan, which also sells Eclar Plaster.

2. Cut the patch to match the size and shape of your keloid. Try to avoid covering normal surrounding skin, since the patch delivers a corticosteroid wherever it makes contact.
3. Wear the Eclar Plaster for 24 hours, then replace it with a new patch. Some users report using the same piece for up to 2 days, although the manufacturer recommends replacing it every 12 or 24 hours. Use Hypafix tape to secure the Eclar Plaster if you find that your clothes continually pull it off your skin.

Below is a page from the manufacturer’s product documentation that I downloaded and translated into English.

4. Wear the patch for months and watch the progress happen! For larger keloids, it appears some people have even worn the Eclar Plaster for over 12 months.

I’ve included several Reddit links below where you can read personal success stories, see how long treatment took, and review other relevant details about individual experiences.
As with any successful keloid treatment, a long-term and consistent approach is required. Good luck!
